Oyo State police command has confirmed one person dead and another missing as a wild elephant strayed into Innayin Community, Iseyin local government of Oyo State.
The Force Public Relations Officer DSP Olayinka Ayanlade who disclosed this to newsmen in a statement on Friday said the incident occurred at about 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, prompting an emergency response by police officers working with local vigilantes and hunters in the area.
Ayanlade noted that the officers later found the body of 45-year-old Ibrahim Tijani in a nearby bush with injuries linked to an animal attack.
He said the remains of the middle age woman has been moved to the General Hospital, Iwere-Ile for examination and preservation.
DSP Ayanlade while advising members of the affected community to steer clear of the environment to avoid further casualties, ,added that search teams are still looking for 50-year-old Alhaji Muhammadu Bingin, who reportedly went missing after encountering the same elephant.
