Osun State House of Assembly has condemned the sealing of the Amotekun Corps operational offices and demands its immediate unsealing to allow the Corps resume its statutory responsibilities.
The Speaker, Prince Adewale Egbedun Stated this in a News release made available to Newsmen in Osogbo.
Prince Egbedun said the sealing of the Amotekun Corps offices lacks justification and constitutes a clear departure from standard and lawful procedure.
He noted that the Amotekun Corps remain a lawfully established and functional agency of the Osun State Government and no individual, political actor or security institution possesses the constitutional authority to shut it down without a legislative revocation.

The Osun Speaker described the action as constitutionally offensive that an agency created by law and funded by the State Government could be shut down without due process, consultation with the State Government or the House of Assembly which enacted its enabling legislation.
Prince Egbedun onbehalf of the Assembly empathized with concerned families and individuals in Akinlalu, who were affected by the recent incidents involving security operations.
He explained that allegations of wrongdoing should be investigated transparently and in accordance with the law, therefore must not be used as a smokescreen to sabotage duly constituted institutions.
“That, while the House does not condone misconduct or impunity by any security organisation, allegations of wrongdoing must be investigated transparently and in accordance with the law and must not be used as a smokescreen to sabotage duly constituted institutions.” It states further
Prince Egbedun directed the House Committee on Security to investigate the incidence and submit its report within seven days.
While maintaining that the security and wellbeing of the people of Osun State must not be sacrificed on the altar of politics, The Speaker emphasized that Amotekun Corps was created by law, sustained by public funds and empowered by the people.
He reteriated that, The Osun State House of Assembly remain resolute in its constitutional duty to defend the laws it enacts and to protect the integrity of institutions established for the safety, stability and progress of the State.
It would be recalled that Three Amotekun Personnel were alleged to have misconducted themselves which lead to the death of some residents in Akinlalu town, Ife North Local Government Area of Osun State on 30th September.
