President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Friday welcomed the newly installed 46th Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Abimbola Akeem Owoade, at the State House in Abuja.
The visit marked Oba Owoade’s first official meeting with the President since his coronation in April 2025. He arrived in the nation’s capital on Wednesday, ahead of the high-level engagement, which was described as a strategic discussion between the monarch and the presidency.
The meeting followed a closed-door security briefing between President Tinubu, security chiefs, and the National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu.
During Oba Owoade’s coronation, President Tinubu had charged the monarch with the responsibility of promoting unity among the Yoruba people and fostering national cohesion. Friday’s meeting is believed to be a continuation of that call, as traditional institutions play a vital role in maintaining cultural harmony and national stability.
The visit underscores the growing collaboration between the federal government and traditional leaders in addressing national issues and strengthening community relations across the country.
