The Ondo State Government has come to the aid of a 35-year-old nursing mother, Mrs. Elizabeth Iromidayo, who was seen wandering around the Ala Quarters area in Akure in a widely circulated video. She was rescued along with her three-month-old baby.
Mrs. Iromidayo, originally from the Aiyetoro community in Ilaje Local Government Area, has since been placed under the care of the State Ministry of Women Affairs for immediate mental health evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment.
According to Special Adviser to the Governor on Women Affairs, Dr. Seun Osamaye, both the mother and child are responding well to care and are currently in a safe shelter.
She noted that further investigations were underway to trace her family and understand the circumstances that led to the situation.
Dr. Osamaye praised Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa’s unwavering commitment to the welfare of all citizens, especially vulnerable individuals.
She also extended appreciation to the concerned citizens who helped bring the case to the government’s attention. These include Bar. Allen Sowore (Special Adviser on Strategic Communication), Mr. Ogunmola Oluwaseun Joshua (Ogbeni OB Sugar), Mr. Bayo Oosha and Mrs. Akeem Bola Oreofe—the Good Samaritan who first intervened—as well as health workers and staff of the Ministry of Women Affairs.
Notable acknowledgements were also given to Nurse Aarinola Adamolekun (Hospital Management Board), Mr. Oyegunwa (Director, Social Welfare), and Mr. Egbekun Amose (Chief Social Welfare Officer) for their swift and compassionate response.
