The Ondo State Government has announced its readiness to host the First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, during her official visit to Akure, the state capital, on Thursday.
As part of the visit, the First Lady will distribute professional kits to 10,000 nurses and midwives from across the South-West region. The initiative aims to enhance healthcare delivery and support frontline medical workers.
Speaking at a press conference on Wednesday in Akure, the Special Adviser to Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa on Women Affairs and Mobilisation, Dr. Seun Osamaye, shared details of the First Lady’s two-day visit scheduled for April 17–18.
Dr. Osamaye highlighted that the distribution of professional kits is a significant move towards strengthening the nation’s health sector. She also revealed that 200 women involved in textile production would benefit from a separate empowerment programme designed to support and grow their businesses.
“These initiatives reflect President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to national development and his administration’s tangible impact across various sectors,” she said.
According to Dr. Osamaye, the beneficiaries were selected from different states without any political bias, based on diverse community engagement efforts.
“In addition, we have educational support programmes providing cash assistance and stipends to students, along with initiatives such as the Women in Cultural Support Programme and the Youth Empowerment Programme,” she added.
So far, over 1,000 individuals have received grants and training. Some secondary school students have also joined the Young Farmers’ Club, and we’re extending this to primary school pupils as well.”
She further noted that Ondo State has benefited from various interventions championed by the First Lady, including scholarships for students with disabilities.

She assured residents and guests of adequate security during the visit, encouraging the public to come out in large numbers to welcome the First Lady.
